History of a plantation

We show you how we work from start to finish.

The story of this field, Basa Serra, a Marcona almond plantation.

From land preparation, through planting, protection, and field preparation, to harvesting, transporting, and processing the fruit.

Basa Serra

A farm that has been harvesting with our umbrellas since its second year.

Thanks to good soil and agronomic management, very favorable yields have been achieved, averaging 280-300 tons per year.

Preparing the Site

In this project, we started from scratch.

Clearing the site of all debris, roots, and rocks. Subsoiling and leveling the ground. This part of the process is laborious, and it should be, to ensure the soil is in optimal condition before beginning.

Planting frame

A 7 X 6 planting frame was chosen, after which the perimeters were marked, the measurements adjusted, and the holes were made to proceed with planting.

Variety and planting

Once the necessary adjustments were made, the Marcona variety was planted, given the characteristics of the soil, general geography, climate, and market needs.

The plants were properly positioned, with guides and protectors, and monitored for optimal growth.

Watering

Monitoring and Growth

Throughout this period, the trees grew well. They were closely monitored, ensuring their conditions were optimal.

Nutrition and application of compost and organic waste

As a way to promote, protect, and restructure your soil during this growing season, we apply organic compost using our special spreaders to nourish the soil and reduce erosion.

Protection

Likewise, to ensure that this growth was constant, we carried out prevention and protection treatments against pests and diseases using our trailed atomization equipment.

Production

From the second year onward this field began to produce efficiently and began to be harvested using umbrellas thanks to the type of planting frame.

Harvesting

Finally, the harvest.

The BASA SERRA almond trees now boast a stable size, growth, and production, allowing us to maintain a steady harvest over the years using the umbrella harvesting method. After this, we transport the fruit to our processing plants in Marcona for cleaning, drying, and storage.
